Sweeter Home Preview 2 is still on track to be released before 2010, and that means things are going to get very exciting very quickly!
So my question to you is: what would you find useful from this site once you get your hands on the latest version?
We can probably break things down a little:
- Theme users only – people who will use themes made by others and are happy not to build their own
- Tinkerers – people who grab a theme and change a couple of things to suit them
- Beginner builders – people who are getting used to Sweeter Home to make basic themes
- Intermediate builders – more complex shared themes
- Power builders – people building, sharing and supporting graphically rich and complex themes
The Sweeter Home website will certainly cater for users only, and new builders – there will be plenty of welcome information and introductions to using Sweeter Home.
For the rest of us, what can I do to help you more? This website will be used to showcase my own themes – as well as other themes I’m impressed with – but it will also serve as a place for me to offer help for advanced users, and a place for people to ask questions.
Would a forum be useful?
Would you like more tutorials?
Comment here and let me know how I can make this site something you will get some real benefit from.

Please!
I think a forum would be very useful. I’ve been a smart phone power user since 2004 and have found forums indispensable for solutions and sharing ideas..
more tutoirials about how 2 add, or download some of this great stuff you have!like hot dock 1.1 & most of the others on your home page…everything else has been grreat keep it up!!! =)
themes. & anything else you can bring..
but please bring us preview 2 already..
the worst thing about the app is the long delay on updates.
Thanks guys. I guess I’ll try and keep the content up and if a lot of people are theming a forum might be useful!
Jerry, before the end of this year is still the goal of the developer.
If there is one app I’m willing to wait for, it’s this one!!! I know it’s been taking quite a while, but if this thing comes out and is fairly bug free, it’s gonna take off instantly as there’s nothin close to it out in the marketplace and we’re all gonna have some sweet lookin phones!! To the developer(s), keep up the good, no, GREAT work.
This is not really specific to this site, but here is to hoping for decent Droid support.
Preview 2 should work fine on the Droid.
The trick will be for themers to make themes that work on both 320*480 and 400*800 type screens. I’ve been talking to the dev around this. Should be fine to do, I’ll just need to make up some tutorials… just means using percentages in all your settings rather than exact pixel sizes.
Excellent!
I am looking forward to using sweeter home. It was my #1 wanted app for Android before i got my Droid. I am just waiting for preview 2 to start using it.
I think just posting customizable options on here for sweeter home themes. For example for the theme Hot Docks, it would be nice to like be able to choose from different dock options. Like having just different setups for the dock, different color shades, different orientations for the dock, etc. I don’t know, those are just somethings that I’m throwing out there. I know that I can change it and it isn’t too hard, but to make it that much easier would be great!
Yeah I’m planning on including all the photoshop assets for each theme I drop so people can remix them the way they like. I also plan on changing things up a little to allow for on-the-fly editing (like in HotDock having the labels – Gmail, SMS, Chat etc) as Sweeter Home text rather than part of the graphic, so you can edit it where you want.
I plan on doing different colour versions too… sometime in the future.
Can’t wait for standard widget support. (Sense UI widgets would be nice too).
Also, for this website, I would like to see something like a repository where themers can submit a complete theme, users can rate and search for more popular theme, etc. It would be a much better system than having to search through forums for cool themes.
If you read here you’ll see improved sharing is a feature of Sweeter Home Preview 2. It’ll be easier to save and share either directly with a friend or on the net. There may be more there too so stay tuned on that front.
