PYE

Instructions:

  • Tap the PYE logo for notes
  • Tap the screen for the time
  • SMS and Phone ‘buttons’ will prompt for your preferred short-cut the first time
  • One screen only, no scrolling.

Performance:

  • The images are the smallest I could get them but they still may eat your RAM from time to time, particularly during homescreen redraw (though I haven’t experienced this)
  • Built on a Desire HD, should work fine on any WVGA device.
  • Seems to work good on my GF’s Legend too. Do you want an HVGA (320×480) version? Let me know in the comments below!

About Lemon

I got hold of Sweeter Home (preview 1) when it first showed up in the Android Market. After a day or two I quickly realised the potential this Home Replacement had, and built a couple of demo Sweeter Home themes to show what this Launcher was capable of (you might be familiar with the Matrix theme video on YouTube). I started this blog in response to the initial popularity of those videos. Since then I've had the pleasure of lending ideas and beta testing for the developer of Sweeter Home.

I was curious to whether it would work, so I loaded it on my HTC Hero. Despite my thoughts of it killing my phone, it worked well. The things I noticed were:
    - small font size (which I know is a general issue when a theme designed on one resolution is used on another)
    - the picture tube over the icons was kind of dark (which may be because of the condensed graphic)
    - when a knob was pressed, the graphic called from the springboard to indicate the knob was ‘on’ shifted a tiny bit, like the scaling didn’t quite jive.
Other than these minor things, it looked good.

Also, how did you get the theme to show only one screen?

    Thanks for the great work.

Yeah this is all my experience too. The tube is dark because there’s tiny stripes across it – these are 1px high, and probably don’t scale well. I looked at the full 480*800 theme on a GalaxyS and for some reason it REALLY struggles with that texture, so I might update that later today.

I know about that button scaling too. Just one of those things. I may still build a HVGA version for Hero/Legend/Backflip etc… we’ll see :)

i LOVE the different “channels”, like applications, social, gaming, etc! WOW.

  5. john says:

WOW, at first, i thought i had to program all of apps in each channel, cuz they were blank, but i just clicked on it and now it found all of the apps? WAY COOL.

sorry to geek out here. so sweet.

hey, much props for the work you’re doing.

questions, is there a way that i can label tags on apps, so that they appear in the drawers? Or do i have to manually hold down my finger to bring up the app list to get the drawers filled w/ the correct apps that way? i just see a notification that says “syncing tags” and was wondering if i manually label the tags.

I’m new to the droid, I was held captive and tortured by a Blackberry for two years. Just learning the ropes, but I love PYE, thank you for all your effort and time.
