Looking for editors

I need help with editing and adding to the official Sweeter Home documentation. This is a user project but editors will be chosen by me. To participate you need to be a full time Sweeter Home user, with good theming skills (looking for power users) and you’ll need to have examples of your written support (doesn’t have to be Sweeter Home specific).

Please don’t harangue me if I don’t choose you, or get back to you. I only need one or two contributors and the decision to choose or not shouldn’t be any indicator of your skills or passion about SH.

If you’re interested please post in the comments on this post. Leave your SH user name and any links to forum or blog posts etc where you show organised written communication skills. I’ll contact you back via the email address you use in the comment form.

Sweeter Home 2 Beta – NEW BUILD

There is a new beta build now up that contains bug fixes and a couple of small feature additions.

PLEASE UPDATE TO THIS LATEST VERSION:

This build contains bug fixes, improved memory handling, and some new widget handling.

Important info:

Please ensure you download and install the correct build for your phone (1.5, 1.6 or 2.0+).
If you experience bugs or crashes please log them!
Remember this is a BETA with all that beta means and entails.

Apologies

Hi all. Apologies for being light on posting lately. Things at work have gone bananas and will continue like that for about another month. As well as this I’m also trying to find somewhere to live – so at this stage real life is eating up most of my free time.

I’ll still be posting Friday Features, and once my life is back under control I’ll be getting some more videos and tutorials up for you all.

ThrillhoRedux

Friday Feature – 5th Feb

This week we feature MetalDock by rufinorosado. As well as using a slick custom dock graphic, rufinorosado has shown great creativity in dealing with a paradigm of Sweeter Home and using it to an advantage of his design. Sweeter Home requires ‘blank’ screen space to drag from screen to screen, so here we see an arrow tab which allows you to swipe to the bottom screen revealing the apps tray. It’s a great solution, looks cool and works well. (You can see the tab in mid-swipe on the right below). MetalDock is available for download now.

Featured today is a theme that quickly became one of the most downloaded on the Sweeter Home server Theme List to date. SmallCaps by elblacksheep is one of the most polished of many “clean and simple” themes. It’s focus is being lightweight and clear in it’s layout.

Using custom images in Sweeter Home

In Edit Mode Sweeter Home is aligned into a 16×16 grid. Due to different screen resolutions this means the actual pixel size of each grid division is different depending on the device you’re using.

To help those of you who like to create custom images for their themes, and want to get your image alignment perfect, attached are PSD (Photoshop) files with a graphical (pixel) grid on a layer as well as actual Photoshop guides already laid out for you. At the moment I’m supplying portrait only.

(If you don’t use Photoshop and want these supplied as just a PNG or JPG please comment here and let me know).
